Driven to win: Toyota in the WRC

The spectacular 2024 FIA World Rally Championship was a battle until the very end, with the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team successfully defending the World Manufacturers’ Championship at the final round, Rally Japan. The team, running the GR YARIS Rally1 Hybrid, won eight of 13 events in a campaign that spanned the globe, from the historic stages of Monte Carlo to the challenging gravel of the Acropolis Rally. With four or five cars set to contest every event this year, the team’s 2025 ambitions are clear – defend the manufacturers’ title while going all-out for the drivers’ and co-drivers’ championships.

Constant improvement through motorsport

Racing has improved the breed since the first days of the automobile, helping develop faster, safer and more reliable cars. Toyota’s history in motorsports dates back decades and has seen it race in almost every discipline, from the 24 Hours of Le Mans to Formula 1. Its pedigree in rallying is second to none, and the sport remains a uniquely challenging and valuable arena in which to develop new and innovative technologies.

2025 GR YARIS Rally1

Revised technical regulations mean the GR YARIS Rally1’s hybrid unit has been removed for 2025, resulting in an 80kg weight reduction and a rally car with even more agile driving performance than before. However, the use of 100 percent sustainable fossil-free fuel means the GR YARIS Rally1 remains true to the objective of sustainable motorsports.

The power unit is a 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged engine. The engine features new camshafts and a new exhaust system this year, to compensate for the removal of the hybrid system and ensure the GR YARIS Rally1 has the performance to win.

All roads lead to better cars

Tarmac

Twisty turns, unforgiving roads and durable hard tyres. Lowered suspension is a must-have for these high-speed events.

Gravel

Rutted roads, rocky tracks and a range of tyre compounds. Raised gravel suspension is crucial for these hot weather events.

Snow

Frozen roads, snow banks and studded tyres. A loose-surface suspension setup is essential for these sub-zero events.

GR Yaris. Endless exhilaration

Developed with the experts at TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team, GR Yaris brings leading motorsport technology and know-how to the road. Incorporating a powerful 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbo engine, advanced GR-FOUR 4WD system and lightweight 3-door body, GR Yaris is born from WRC to deliver endless exhilaration on the roads you tackle.
